NMIS

Benefits of Using Nebraska Management Information System (ServicePoint)

When agencies participate in the NMIS their clients and communities across the state benefit from automated, real-time technology.

Client benefits include:

* Saving time by not having to complete an intake interview each time he/she returns to an agency or any other participating agency that the client consents to sharing of his/her information.
* Having the option to request that specific information is not shared with other participating agencies.
* Receiving services quicker.

Agency benefits include:

* Ease of access to NMIS because ServicePoint is a "web-based" product and no software is ever loaded on any agency computer. All that is required is Internet access and a web browser.
* Allowing caseworkers to identify, monitor, and manage client needs and services with participating providers to move toward improving their living situation and health.
* Coordinating the services for the client so the agency can identify the best combination of services to address individual needs.
* Making it easier to refer clients to different services (e.g. food programs, job skill centers, or other services that might not be provided by a specific agency).
* Helping clients and families obtain and maintain stability.

Indirect benefits to clients, families and communities include:

* Helping provide information necessary to obtain funding so agencies can continue to provide services to clients and families.
* Assist local agencies in understanding what types of services the community needs from agencies.
* Help the community identify needs for housing, service gaps and how services can best help the community.

Fees Structure And Fees

The NMIS Board of Directors sets fees to cover the costs of operating based on the number of users in the system. Agencies are charged for user fees. The following fees are charged for each user:
* New user license fee at the rate negotiated with Bowman Internet Systems - one time fee
* Annual user license fee charged by Bowman Internet Systems for each user license
* Annual user fee required by NMIS to sustain the cost of operating the system

Each member collaboration/coalition may charge additional administrative fees as necessary to cover local costs.
