Regional Collaborations Add Resources

Ø      Over $11 M of grant funding for multiple infrastructure development and programs all of which have been sustained.

Ø      $317,000 ( 3 years) in funding for the Continuum of Care for Housing and Homelessness

Ø      Over $200,000 per year for Circle of Courage and Banner County youth prevention in addition to SICA.

Regional Collaborations Improve Quality and Return on Investment

• Improved quality and efficiency of care for persons with mental illness which decreased Emergency Protective Custody by 40% and commitments to the Regional Hospital by 90% while saving local and state governments over $2 million dollars.

Regional Collaborations Enhance the Rural Workforce and Sustain Change

Ø      Memorandum between Western Nebraska Community College, PPHHS, PPHD, and RNHN to create a Training Academy which affords the opportunity to earn a degree in occupational studies while employed and to develop common skill sets for employees.

Ø      Over $50,000 in Academy funds have been used to provide training specific to youth prevention and community organizing including evidenced based practices.

Regional Collaborations Provide Prevention Services

Ø      80% of the Panhandle newborns receive a free home visits for health and social support through the collaboration of hospitals, nurses, and family advocates.

Ø      Over $1.1 million in free and reduced prescription drugs for citizens since February 2004

Ø      200 children received free dental screenings (totaling $100,000 of care) through the dental day partnership.

Ø      Over 800 children receive free enhanced school health screenings through a partnership of schools, clinics, and volunteer providers ( PT, OT, Chiropractors, eye and hearing professionals, and dentists) as part of the Child Health First Program.

Regional Collaborations Provide Leadership in Innovative Change

Ø      The Panhandle is one of 14 Agency for Health Research and Quality demonstration sites for creating rural electronic health information exchange.

Ø      Circle of Courage is one of nine national Positive Youth Development demonstrations programs.

Ø      Children’s Outreach is a nationally recognized outreach model (Rural Healthy People 2010 by Southwest Rural Health Research Center School –Texas A&M- Volume I )
