  • Mental Health First Aid Training for Law Enforcement

Mental Health First Aid is a 8-hour training certification course which teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual, the certification program introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.

The experiential learning process and review of previous products will result in regional decisions regarding a collaborative agreement about social entrepreneurship as a viable framework for pursuing new levels of community and social development in the Panhandle. ​​This 24-hour / 3 day course is designed for any law enforcement officer working in an educational environment.  This course, following the SRO Triad model, advances the SRO's knowledge and skills as a law enforcement officer, informal counselor, and educator. Within this course are oral presentations, videotaped practical exercises, and multiple discussions.  Attendees will need to sign in with their own user name and profile on the NASRO web page in order to register for the training.
